Academic Advising

Academic advising and counseling are integral components of the educational process at KAUFD. These services are coordinated through the Academic Advising Unit, in collaboration with the Student Affairs Unit and other relevant faculty and university resources, to promote student success, well-being, and professional development. The purpose of academic advising is to provide continuous support throughout the entire educational experience, from initial enrollment through graduation, particularly during critical periods such as the first year of study, transition into the clinical phase of the program, and preparation for graduation and entry into professional practice. Academic advising helps students understand their academic progress, identify areas requiring improvement, access available support services, and develop realistic plans for academic and professional development. In addition, students who are academically at risk, experiencing academic or personal challenges, or demonstrating exceptional academic achievement and leadership potential are provided with additional support and guidance. Students entering KAUFD are assigned to an academic faculty mentor appointed by the Dean of the school following a structured process. Academic advisors serve as mentors who monitor academic progress, identify academic concerns, meet with students individually or in groups, document advising activities, recommend action plans, and refer students to appropriate support services when needed.
