Bachelor of Journalism and Digital Media Program
JOURNALISM AND DIGITAL MEDIA
The Journalism and Digital Media Program traces its origins to 1976, when Journalism was first introduced as a specialization within the Bachelor's Program in Media, one of the earliest media programs established in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Arab world. In 2012, Journalism became an independent academic track under the Journalism Program pursuant to Administrative Decision No. 24158/Q, dated 30/11/1433 AH. In the 2018 academic year, the University Council approved the renaming of the Journalism Program to the Journalism and Digital Media Program under Administrative Decision No. 809098/40D, dated 6/7/1440 AH. The program awards a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Digital Media through a comprehensive academic curriculum that keeps pace with the rapid global developments in journalism and digital media. It prepares qualified media professionals equipped with advanced skills in writing, content production, and digital design, enabling them to contribute to national development initiatives and meet the evolving demands of the media industry in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In 2022, the program was comprehensively updated to align with the digital transformation of the media industry. It was further developed in 2026 and renamed the Bachelor of Digital Media Program, reflecting contemporary trends in media education and the evolving needs of the digital media sector.
