The Department of Audio-Visual Production is one of the main academic departments in the College of Communication and Media at King Abdulaziz University. Its academic roots date back to 1976, when radio and television emerged as a track within the Department of Media at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, one of the earliest media departments in the Kingdom and the Arab world. In 2012, the track was transformed into the Department of Directing and Design within a specialized college. In 2018, the department’s name was further developed into the Department of Audio-Visual Production, alongside the adoption of a modern curriculum based on international programs and aligned with labor market needs. The department aims to prepare specialized professionals in audio-visual production who combine theoretical knowledge with practical skills in filmmaking and audiovisual content creation, keeping pace with technological transformations and the evolution of digital distribution platforms.
