Learning Outcomes

Knowledge: Demonstrate an in-depth and specialized body of knowledge and understanding covering theories, principles, and concepts in Urban and Regional Planning, with a strong emphasis on the relevant best practices from around the world.
Exhibit critical knowledge and understanding of strategies, policies, tools, techniques, processes, practices, regulations, and technical terminology relevant to Land-Use Planning, Community Development Planning, and the pertinent sciences, with a focus on effective practical implementation.
Display advanced knowledge and understanding of recent developments in Land-Use Planning, Community Development Planning and the relevant managerial, technological, and developmental sciences, emphasizing the application of such developments in research and professional practice.
Articulate advanced knowledge and understanding of a range of established and specialized methods relevant to inquiry techniques in Urban and Regional planning, advanced qualitative and quantitative analysis, GIS and Spatial Analysis, feasibility studies, policy formulation and evaluation, project management, and planning implementation.
Skills: Apply specialized and advanced theories, principles, and concepts to develop and manage urban and/or regional planning projects in critical contexts.
Solve complex urban and regional planning problems and overcome challenges in the implementation of developmental planning projects in critical urban, rural and desert environments.
Evaluate the efficiency of outputs and effectiveness of outcomes of urban and regional planning projects that provide creative solutions for current issues in land-use planning and community development planning.
Conduct advanced applied research in urban and regional planning using specialized methodologies in land-use planning and community development planning.
Use strategic planning processes, techniques, tools, and instruments to effectively formulate, implement, and manage complex urban and regional planning projects in a sustainable way.
Carry out complex and advanced technical analysis related to land-use planning and community development planning and the relevant sciences.
Communicate development-projects processes, outputs, outcomes, and innovations in various forms to disseminate applied knowledge and skills to specialist and non-specialist audiences in the realm of urban and regional planning.
Process and analyze environmental, socio-economic, and physical planning data both quantitatively and qualitatively to feed scientific research and to effectively guide the decision-making processes.
Apply advanced digital technology and ICT tools (i.e., GIS, CAD, Excel, Project Management, and other design, statistical, and geospatial software) to process diverse data sets and to disseminate the results.
Values, Autonomy and Responsibility : Uphold integrity, professional ethics, and academic values in research production and urban/regional planning practice as well as in the dissemination of research knowledge, academic citation, and the use of physical and non-physical survey data.
Independently initiate, plan, and manage professional planning projects and research, monitor progress, and participate in the relevant strategic and action planning decisions with a high degree of autonomy and self-confidence.
Manage specialized tasks and activities related to land-use planning or community development planning with high autonomy, ensuring alignment with professional standards, bylaws, regulations, and the pre stated strategic planning objectives.
Collaborate effectively in project-based research or specialized studies in land-use planning or community development planning, assuming leadership roles when necessary, and take full responsibility for project and/or research outputs and outcomes.
Contribute to community quality of life through the practical application of results and findings of strategic planning research and projects based on the engagement with community stakeholders.
