About the Program

The department started the postgraduate program (Master of Curriculum and Thesis) more than twenty years ago (1404/1405 AH). The department developed the master's program with courses and a thesis to align with the huge scientific developments in this field, and began work on it from the first semester of the academic year 1426/1427 AH. Research from those theses has been published in specialised scientific journals around the world. Most of these graduates were able to pursue their higher studies and obtain their doctorate degrees from abroad or through the joint supervision system.

Providing advanced and innovative research-based education in the field of biochemistry to prepare highly qualified graduates for diverse labor markets—academic, industrial, and governmental—and to contribute effectively to community service.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge and Understanding Explaining, in depth, the principles and applications related to experimental techniques used in biochemistry and molecular biology. Demonstrating advanced and integrated knowledge of the structure and function of biomolecules, the regulation of metabolic pathways, and the molecular mechanisms underlying related diseases. Recognising recent advances and research trends across different scientific fields. Second:
Skills: Interpreting biochemical data to solve scientific problems. Demonstrating the ability to innovate and to apply advanced scientific approaches to solve complex problems in biochemistry. Mastering scientific writing skills, including the preparation of research articles, technical reports, and competitive project proposals. Integrating computational tools, information technology, and digital databases into data analysis, self-directed learning, and research activities.
Values, Autonomy, and Responsibility Demonstrating integrity and conducting research in biochemistry in accordance with ethical principles, professional standards, and societal responsibilities. Communicating scientific concepts effectively through various formats, such as seminars, posters, and conference presentations, with due consideration for clarity, accuracy, and the target audience. Managing specialised tasks and activities in the field of biophysics effectively and with a high degree of independence.
