About the Program

The Intermediate Diploma in Emergency Medical Services (EMT) program at King Abdulaziz University is a specialized academic and training program designed to prepare qualified personnel to provide pre-hospital emergency medical care, in accordance with the highest professional standards accredited by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties and international regulations in the field of emergency medicine. The program is offered by the College of Applied Sciences, under the supervision of emergency medicine specialists, and combines theoretical study with field training and clinical simulations in realistic hospital and emergency medical center environments.

1Acquire fundamental knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and emergency diseases; perform initial patient assessment and rapid emergency decision-making; manage emergency and critical medical cases across various age groups; implement Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) skills; communicate effectively with the medical team and prepare emergency medical reports; use emergency medical equipment and devices; prepare to pass the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties' professional classification exam; and adhere to professional ethics, patient safety, and infection control standards.

Learning Outcomes

Explain the fundamental principles of emergency medical services, human anatomy and physiology, and emergency response systems.
Apply infection prevention, patient safety, occupational safety, and risk management principles during emergency care.
Perform primary and secondary patient assessments to identify priorities according to approved emergency care protocols.
Apply first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and basic life support (BLS) skills within the defined scope of practice.
Provide basic emergency medical care for common illnesses and injuries in accordance with established protocols and procedures.
Collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary healthcare teams during emergencies, incidents, and disaster response.
Operate emergency medical equipment and ambulance devices safely and efficiently while following operational procedures.
