About the Department: The Department of Occupational Therapy is one of five departments in the Faculty of Medical Rehabilitation Sciences. It was established in order to satisfy the needs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and to fulfill the great demand in the Health Care Community. The Occupational Therapy Department is under the Faculty of Medical Rehabilitation Sciences. The OT program requires four academic years followed by an internship year. The B.Sc. program in Occupational Therapy offers courses in Occupational Therapy background, equipment, modalities, and therapeutic interventions for different pathological conditions. This is done to provide sound academic background needed for study and practice of modern Occupational Therapy procedures in hospitals and health care facilities. The study period is four academic years followed by a full year (12 months) of mandatory practical training (internship) in hospitals. 2. The academic year consists of two semesters. 3. The first academic year is preparatory, and the second year covers basic sciences of occupational therapy through lectures and practical lessons. The third and fourth years include theoretical and applied courses related to diseases and surgeries of various body systems, with practical hospital training through lectures, practical lessons, discussions, graduation research, and advanced seminars. 4. The curriculum requires completing 137 credit hours to earn a Bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy. 5. Graduates receive the Bachelor’s degree upon successfully completing the program requirements and internship.
