20260412890The Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering at King Abdulaziz University is a five-year program comprising 155 credit units. It prepares students to apply mathematics, chemistry, physics, and engineering sciences to the efficient, safe, and sustainable conversion of raw materials and energy into valuable products and services. The curriculum progresses from material and energy balances, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer, chemical reaction engineering, and separation processes to process modeling and simulation, process control, plant and process design, process safety management, experimental unit operations, and a senior project. It also incorporates modern computational tools, engineering economics, technical communication, laboratory practice, and industrial experience. Students in the regular track complete 400 hours of summer training, while students in the cooperative track undertake 1,000 hours of supervised industrial experience. Elective courses provide additional exposure to polymers, engineering materials, catalysis, petroleum refining, natural gas, petrochemical technology, and industrial pollution control. The program prepares graduates for professional engineering practice, leadership, research, and postgraduate study in chemical engineering and related fields. KAU identifies the program as accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET under the applicable General and Chemical Engineering Program Criteria.
Commitment to total quality in teaching and scientific research and aspiration to leadership in chemical and materials engineering education.
