The Media Program at King Abdulaziz University is recognized as one of the earliest media programs in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In 1433 AH (2012), a decision issued by the University President approved the transformation of the Media Program into the Faculty of Communication and Media, which comprises four academic programs, including the Public Relations Program. In 1441 AH (2020), the University Council approved the new curriculum for the Public Relations Program, which is distinguished by its alignment with internationally recognized academic programs and its responsiveness to labor market needs. The program was further updated in 2022 to strengthen its focus on digital communication, reputation management, and corporate identity development in digital environments. It was revised again in 2026 to keep pace with the rapid transformations in the communication industry by offering a comprehensive professional education that equips students with contemporary competencies in corporate communication, communication campaign planning, stakeholder and media relations management, and communication in multicultural environments, preparing graduates to meet the evolving demands of government agencies, private-sector organizations, and non-profit institutions.
The mission of the Bachelor of Public Relations program is to prepare nationally qualified graduates with strong academic and professional competencies who possess advanced knowledge and communication skills, and are capable of managing institutional communication and effectively building corporate image and reputation. The program contributes to promoting transparency, enabling effective communication with various stakeholders, and supporting institutional and digital transformation, in alignment with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 in developing human capital, strengthening national identity, enhancing institutional performance efficiency, and fostering active participation in sustainable development and the knowledge-based economy.
