Learning Outcomes

K1 - Explain the structure and composition of the Earth and the internal and external geological processes that control its evolution, including magmatism, metamorphism, tectonics, volcanism, weathering, transport, sedimentation, and stratigraphic evolution.
K2- Explain major igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rock associations, including nomenclature, mineral composition, texture, classification, and tectonic setting relationships.
K3- Explain compositional characteristics of rock types and evaluate geological controls on mineralization and associated mineral deposit styles.
K4 - Explain ore-forming geochemical processes, including magma generation, hydrothermal fluid evolution, isotope systematics, and tectonic-magmatic environments associated with mineralization.
K5 - Explain temporal and spatial distribution, geological settings, classification, and genetic models of major metallic mineral systems.
K6 - Integrate a range of exploration data, including geological, geochemical, geophysical, and remote sensing/GIS datasets, to define and evaluate targets for ore discovery.
K7 - Explain mining operation diversity, environmental impacts of mining waste, and management and rehabilitation strategies.
K8 - Describe the geological framework, tectonic history, and natural resource potential of the Arabian Shield and Arabian Platform.
S1 - Collect, record, evaluate, and present field and laboratory data related to minerals, rocks, and ore deposits using appropriate geological and geochemical techniques.
S2 - Identify and interpret igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks and their constituent minerals using petrographic microscopy and hand-specimen analysis.
S3 - Integrate geological, geochemical, geophysical, and structural exploration datasets to develop cost-effective exploration models for ore deposits.
S4 - Analyze geochemical datasets and generate statistical and graphical representations using spreadsheet, statistical, and AI-assisted computational tools to support geological interpretation.
S5- Communicate geological concepts and interpretations effectively through written scientific reports, independent discussion, seminar participation, and reflective analysis.
S6- Collaborate in team-based projects to solve problems related to mineralization and mineral resource exploration.
S7- Apply GIS and remote sensing techniques for geological data acquisition, spatial analysis, and geological map production.
