About the Program

The department of architectural engineering is one of the six departments in the faculty of engineering at Rabigh, King Abdulaziz University that is established in, 1437-1438 H (2016-2017). The field of architectural engineering discusses the different aspects of buildings science and technology. These areas are including; building special design and analysis and integration buildings systems. The architectural engineering graduate will acquire several practical skills in the field of buildings design, structural analysis, electrical and mechanical layouts, sewage systems, fire protection, illumination and acoustic, building performance analysis, and construction management. Due to multi backgrounds that the AE program graduates possess, they will have the chance and the ability to find a job opportunities in many filed of the buildings industry. Such as Jobs in buildings design, building construction, construction management, building commissioning, and building systems verifications and installments.

To provide an integrated educational and research environment that promotes innovation and creativity in sustainable design and energy efficiency of buildings achieved by offering accredited academic programs, supporting applied research and ensuring the preparation of qualified engineering graduates capable of meeting market needs, while contributing to the Kingdom’s vision and sustainable development goals.

Graduate Attributes

1. Integrated Architectural–Engineering Competence Graduates possess a solid foundation in mathematics, basic sciences, and core engineering principles, combined with architectural design knowledge, enabling them to integrate structural, mechanical, electrical, and environmental systems within building design.2. Sustainable and Energy-Efficient Design Capability Graduates are capable of designing and evaluating buildings with a strong emphasis on sustainability, energy efficiency, and environmental responsibility, in alignment with national sustainability goals and Vision 2030.3. Engineering Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills Graduates can identify, formulate, and solve complex architectural engineering problems using appropriate analytical, numerical, and computational methods, supported by sound engineering judgment.4. Building Systems Design Proficiency Graduates are competent in the design and analysis of building systems, including HVAC, lighting, acoustics, plumbing, fire protection, and building automation systems, ensuring occupant comfort, safety, and performance.5. Data Analysis, Experimentation, and Modeling Skills Graduates are able to conduct experiments, analyze and interpret data, and apply building performance modeling and simulation tools to support evidence-based design and decision-making.6. Professional Communication and Documentation Skills Graduates communicate effectively through technical reports, working drawings, presentations, and digital models, and are able to convey engineering and design concepts clearly to diverse technical and non-technical audiences.7. Teamwork, Leadership, and Project Management Ability Graduates function effectively within multidisciplinary teams, demonstrating leadership, collaboration, task planning, and responsibility, particularly in design studios, capstone projects, and professional practice settings.8.
