About the Center

The Center for Research Excellence in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (AiADS) at King Abdulaziz University was established at the end of 1443 AH (2022) and commenced its operations in 1445 AH (2023) to advance applied research in artificial intelligence and data science. In alignment with Saudi Vision 2030 and the National Strategy for Data and AI, the Center brings together faculty members, researchers, and students to develop innovative solutions in key sectors, including healthcare, sustainability, and security, with a focus on AI ethics and governance. Through collaboration and interdisciplinary research, the Center strengthens the University's role as an active partner in the national artificial intelligence ecosystem and supports its growth in the Kingdom.

Remote sensing and the environment, including satellite imagery, climate resilience, and the Saudi Green Initiative.
Mining and geological AI for mineral prediction and geospatial analysis in the Arabian Shield.

Partnerships and Agreements

The Center collaborates with external and internal partners to advance applied research, joint projects, and knowledge exchange. External partnerships (Memoranda of Understanding): International Center for AI Research and Ethics (ICAIRE): an MoU for collaboration on AI ethics and governance research and joint initiatives. HiStar Technology: a Chinese company with an office in Jeddah, representing the Aerospace Information Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences (AIRCAS), and 4D Bios; an MoU to advance joint research in remote sensing, environmental monitoring, and smart systems. Ananas Insurance Brokerage: an MoU to strengthen academia–industry collaboration through applied AI research and joint projects. Internal partnerships (KAU faculties): Faculty of Computing and Information Technology, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Engineering, and the Environmental and Life Sciences faculties.
