20260412890The Center of Excellence in Nanoscale Biosciences is an advanced academic and research facility established in 1439 AH. It focuses on studying and applying modern technologies within the field of biosciences at the molecular and cellular levels. The Center aims to understand biological systems by investigating biomolecules, cells, and microorganisms using advanced tools and techniques, such as electron microscopy, fluorescence microscopy, and spectroscopy. The Center’s work centers on studying the microbiome—defined as the genetic material (or metagenome) of all microorganisms or microbiota within a specific environment. The human microbiome, for instance, comprises over five million genes—far exceeding the number of human genes—and exerts significant effects, making it one of the most promising frontiers for diagnosing and treating intractable diseases. The Center conducts advanced research in fields such as molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, and precision medicine, contributing to an understanding of fundamental disease mechanisms and the development of innovative therapies. It also investigates the impact of nanomaterials on living organisms and analyzes interactions between biomolecules within tissues and cells, thereby helping to improve medical treatments and enhance the accuracy of disease diagnosis. Through collaboration with academic and healthcare institutions, the Center advances scientific progress in nanoscale biosciences and works to develop new technologies for application in medicine, agriculture, and the biotechnology industry. The center also aims to train research personnel and students in this advanced field, and to provide scientific consultancy to both the public and private sectors.
The partnerships and agreements established by the Center of Excellence in Nanobioscience focus on fostering collaboration with universities, research centers, and both local and international industrial and medical companies.
