King Abdulaziz University’s Quranic Language Endowment organized a discussion session titled “The National Arabic Language Policy in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: Institutional Implementation and Impact” under the patronage of University President and Chairman of the Endowment’s Board of Trustees, Dr. Tareef bin Yousuf Alaama, on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at the King Fahd Public Library.
The session was held as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the presence of the Arabic language and explore mechanisms for translating the national policy from a regulatory framework into institutional practice. These efforts aim to reinforce the status and use of Arabic across society and various sectors, in line with national directions that recognize the language as a fundamental component of Saudi national identity.
Discussions covered several key themes, including the transition from policy frameworks to institutional and societal impact, Arabic and artificial intelligence, Arabic in the media, and the international dimension of the language. The session also explored ways to strengthen the use of Arabic in workplace environments and examine how Arabic can be developed as an economic asset.
The discussion was moderated by Prof. Abdulrahman bin RajaAllah Al-Sulami, Executive Director of the Quranic Language Endowment at King Abdulaziz University, and Prof. Hussein bin Mohammed Al-Qarni, faculty member in the Department of Arabic Language and Literature. The session brought together faculty members, researchers, postgraduate students, and others interested in the Arabic language.
The event forms part of the Quranic Language Endowment’s efforts to support high-impact projects and initiatives that serve the Arabic language and strengthen related scientific research and institutional partnerships. The Endowment also supports Arabic-language programs and projects, promotes the use of technology, and contributes to enriching Arabic digital content.
In February 2026, the Saudi Council of Ministers approved the Kingdom’s National Arabic Language Policy, which aims to strengthen the use and status of Arabic across society, public entities, and the private and nonprofit sectors, while expanding its presence across different areas of life.
