King Abdulaziz University’s Institute of Genomic Medicine Laboratories Earn CBAHI Accreditation

The diagnostic laboratories of the Institute of Genomic Medicine at King Abdulaziz University (Genati) have achieved a new medical and academic milestone by earning accreditation from the Saudi Central Board for Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions (CBAHI), following a final assessment in which the laboratories received a 100% score.

The accreditation reflects the Institute’s strong commitment to quality, diagnostic accuracy, and safe laboratory practices in line with national healthcare standards. It also highlights the advanced capabilities of the Institute’s teams in meeting CBAHI requirements. The final assessment followed a rigorous evaluation process that included on-site visits and detailed reviews of diagnostic procedures and laboratory practices.

CBAHI accreditation also supports the strategic objectives of the Institute of Genomic Medicine by strengthening confidence in the accuracy and reliability of diagnostic testing for hereditary and genetic disorders. It further advances research and innovation by enabling Genati laboratories to generate and use validated data in genomic medicine and personalized medicine research, while supporting access to research funding and the development and registration of medical innovations in accordance with internationally recognized standards.

The accreditation is also expected to support the growth and commercialization of Genati’s services by enhancing the laboratories’ competitive standing and facilitating partnership agreements and contracts with public and private sector organizations. In addition, it strengthens diagnostic integration by enabling the laboratories to provide advanced testing in hereditary disorders, personalized medicine, and precision medicine, while serving as an accredited reference center for healthcare institutions in the field of medical laboratory services.
