Jeddah – On Monday, September 29, 2025, His Excellency Dr. Tareef Youssef Al-Aama, President of King Abdulaziz University, welcomed a delegation from the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) at the University Council Hall, with the attendance of Prof. Ameen Yusuf Naaman, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research.

The visit aimed to review best practices in education, scientific research, and international cooperation, as well as to explore opportunities for collaboration in various fields. The program also included a presentation of the university’s student-focused programs and the services offered to support their educational journey.

As part of the program, the delegation visited the Faculty of Engineering, including the Ore Processing Unit Laboratory, the Rock Mechanics Laboratory, and the Wet Ore Processing Laboratory. They also toured the Educational Museum at the Faculty of Earth Sciences and were introduced to the academic, athletic, and ethical support programs and services provided to students.

The program also highlighted the Waed 2025 initiative, which is dedicated to attracting and supporting outstanding and gifted high school students to enroll at King Abdulaziz University. The initiative provides two pathways. The academic acceleration track shortens university studies by recognizing pre-university coursework in line with established academic standards. The special talents track targets distinguished students who have earned international or local awards or made notable contributions in national and international forums
