King Abdulaziz University, represented by the Center for Radiation Protection and Training and in cooperation with the Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Unit, organized a seminar titled “Toward Effective Strategic Partnerships in Radiation Protection and Advanced Applications.” Held under the patronage of King Abdulaziz University President Dr. Tareef bin Youssef Alaama, the seminar aimed to explore opportunities for cooperation and integration in the fields of radiation safety and nuclear technologies. The event was attended by the Vice President for Scientific Research and Innovation, Prof. Amin bin Youssef Noman, on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at the King Fahd Medical Research Center.

As part of the event, participants toured the accompanying exhibition and were introduced to the equipment of the Center for Radiation Protection and Training. The displayed devices included a wide-energy neutron detector; a real-time radon gas monitor with spectroscopy; a vehicle-mounted mobile radiation detector; a portable high-purity germanium detector for identifying radioactive isotopes; a personal optically stimulated luminescence dosimeter; and a personal thermoluminescent dosimeter, all featuring advanced modern technologies

Bringing together a number of government entities and private-sector organizations, the seminar covered several key themes. These included opportunities for cooperation with the center in vital sectors, radiation applications in industry, health, and energy, and advanced services in measurement, calibration, and radiological testing in accordance with international standards. It also addressed training programs and national capacity building in radiation safety, as well as strengthening partnerships in ways that support sustainable development and improve performance efficiency across various sectors

Discussions also highlighted partnership opportunities in specialized projects and consultancy services, supporting innovation and creating added value for partner organizations. The seminar further emphasized the importance of strengthening compliance with international standards and enhancing safety and operational efficiency

Through this initiative, the university seeks to expand cooperation with relevant entities and provide integrated solutions in radiation protection. This supports its academic and research role in serving the community and contributes to the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 toward a safe and sustainable environment
