King Abdulaziz University (KAU), through its Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, launched the KAU Entrepreneurship Community on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at Saleh Kamel Hall in the Institute of Islamic Economics. The launch was attended by Prof. Amin bin Yousuf Noaman, Vice President for Research and Innovation.
Designed to strengthen entrepreneurship across the University, the initiative aims to support the commercialization of research and innovation, foster the development and growth of university-based ventures, and contribute to sustainable economic and social development.
Bringing together faculty members, staff, and individuals interested in entrepreneurship, the KAU Entrepreneurship Community provides a platform for professional networking, knowledge exchange, and collaboration. It seeks to connect aspiring entrepreneurs with opportunities to develop their ideas, establish partnerships, and advance emerging ventures within the University’s innovation ecosystem.
Through the community, members can access KAU’s entrepreneurship services and initiatives, connect with fellow entrepreneurs, and participate in specialized sessions with industry experts, investors, and potential partners. They can also explore funding and investment opportunities, as well as programs designed to support startup development and business growth.
As part of the launch, a panel discussion titled “From Lab to Market: Turning Research into Impact” explored pathways for transforming scientific discoveries and research outcomes into marketable products and commercial ventures.
During the discussion, Prof. Taha Qassasati shared his experience bringing inventions to market through licensing agreements with an industry partner, while Prof. Mazen Zamzami discussed his journey in establishing Haven Scientific, a startup company. Prof. Abdul Sattar Omar highlighted his experience building international partnerships and translating research into entrepreneurial ventures. The session was moderated by Dr. Ali Alawi, Head of the Public Relations Department at the Faculty of Communication and Media.
