King Abdulaziz University, represented by the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Environment Fund to strengthen strategic cooperation, support environmental programs and projects, raise environmental awareness, and advance research and innovation to develop sustainable solutions to environmental challenges. The agreement also aims to serve the University community and wider society in line with national environmental goals and Saudi Vision 2030. The MoU was signed on Monday, September 21, 2026, at the Dean’s Hall at the Faculty of Environmental Sciences.
Representing the Environment Fund at the signing was Munir bin Fahd bin Ghazi Al-Suhaili, Acting Chief Executive Officer, while King Abdulaziz University was represented by Prof. Adel bin Dhaifallah Al-Qurashi, Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences.
Key areas of cooperation include supporting and conducting studies and research on environmental issues, supporting innovation, environmentally friendly technologies and sustainable practices, and implementing environmental awareness programs and initiatives for the University community and wider society. These efforts aim to strengthen environmental awareness and reinforce the principles of sustainability.
Further areas of collaboration include organizing events, seminars, workshops, training courses, forums and scientific conferences, as well as providing scientific and technical consultancy in environmental fields. The MoU also provides for programs that build the capabilities of professionals and students, strengthen their scientific and practical skills, prepare and publish educational materials on environmental issues of national priority, and support training programs for Faculty students across their academic specializations.
Priority projects under the MoU include environmental awareness initiatives and programs, expanding collaboration with universities focused on local and global environmental priorities, and supporting environmental research and studies. The impact of these projects will be assessed against defined performance indicators and outcomes.
