Assistant Professor and Chair of the Marine Biology Department at King Abdulaziz University, with research interests centered on marine microbial ecology, coral reef ecosystems, and the application of genomics to understand biodiversity and environmental change. My research focuses on the structure and function of coral-associated microbial communities and their responses to environmental stressors, particularly thermal stress. I utilize metagenomics and multi-omics approaches to investigate microbial diversity, functional potential, and ecosystem-level processes, with an emphasis on linking microbial dynamics to coral health and resilience. I am actively involved in advancing research in the Red Sea, contributing to the understanding of its unique marine biodiversity and supporting efforts in conservation and sustainable management. My work also explores the integration of data-driven and AI-based methods to analyze complex ecological datasets. In addition to research, I contribute to teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses, supervising student research, and supporting the academic and administrative development of the department.
