Biography

H.E. Eng. Abdullatif A. Al-Othman is a distinguished Saudi leader with over 35 years of experience in oil and gas, corporate finance, investment, and international business relations. He served as Governor and Chairman of the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA) from 2012 to 2016, where he played a key role in advancing investment opportunities and enhancing Saudi Arabia’s global competitiveness.

Eng. Al-Othman began his career in 1979 with Saudi Arabian Bechtel and joined Saudi Aramco in 1981. Over the years, he managed several major projects, including the Gas Gathering Project, Qasim and Southwest Refineries, Ras Tanura Refinery Modernization, and Marjan Field Development. In 2001, he was appointed Vice President at Aramco, later becoming Senior Vice President of Finance, and eventually Senior Vice President of Engineering & Project Management.

He is the founding Chairman of several strategic entities, including the KAUST Endowment Investment Company, Aramco Trading Company, Sadara Chemical Company (a Saudi Aramco–Dow Chemical joint venture), Saudi Aramco Investment Management Co. (pension fund), and the Saudi Industrial Investment Company (Dussur), a partnership between PIF, Aramco, and SABIC. He is also a founding member of the GCC Board Directors Institute (GCC BDI).

Currently, Eng. Al-Othman serves on the boards of Al Madinah Region Development Authority, King Abdulaziz University, KFUPM Endowment and Amaad Business Park, Saudi Fransi Bank, Investcorp, Olayan Saudi Holding, and GCC BDI. He holds a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from KFUPM (1979) and an MBA from MIT as a Sloan Fellow (1998).
