20260412890The Marine Engineering program is a specialized branch of engineering focused on the study of ship construction, design, operation, and maintenance, as well as the performance and management of marine propulsion systems and auxiliary machinery. The Marine Engineering program leads to a Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering. It is developed in accordance with university academic regulations and the standards of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), following the requirements of the STCW 95 Convention and its subsequent amendments to ensure international recognition and compliance with professional maritime training standards. The curriculum combines theoretical knowledge and applied learning, covering a wide range of engineering and maritime disciplines. Students study advanced mathematics, statics, dynamics, engineering chemistry, engineering drawing, workshop practices, electrical and electronic engineering fundamentals, thermodynamics, heat transfer, shipbuilding and construction, marine diesel engines, shipyard technology, marine engineering systems, fault diagnosis and troubleshooting, steam and heat systems, and pollution prevention and control. These courses are designed to build a strong technical foundation and foster analytical and problem-solving skills essential for shipboard operations and maintenance. To enhance practical competence, the program includes elective courses such as refrigeration and air-conditioning, planned maintenance, and gas and steam turbines, allowing students to tailor their learning to specific interests within the maritime field. Hands-on training plays a central role in the educational experience, with students completing a two-month shipyard training period after Level 6 (summer of the third academic year) followed by a twelve-month mandatory sea-time training onboard deep-sea vessels. This combination of academic study and professional practice ensures that graduates are fully prepared to assume responsibilities as licensed marine engineers and contribute effectively to the global maritime industry.
To become an internationally accredited academic reference in preparing highly competent marine engineers who are capable of innovation, competing globally, and supporting sustainable development in the maritime sector.
To provide outstanding and sustainable education, training, and scientific research in marine engineering that delivers positive Community Services
