About the Program

Power and Machines Engineering program plays a very important role in Engineering by creating enthusiastic and efficient engineers who are responsible for the analysis, design, and optimization of power systems by Engineering Principles with current and advance technology concepts and tools to solve problems in power generation, transmission, distribution, utilization and also in renewable energy sector. The number of graduates in the department of the Electrical and Computer Engineering in the past 5 years is as follows: 2024-25: 133, 2023-24: 120, 2022-23: 94, 2021-22: 96, 2020-21: 102. As of 2026, the current number of enrolled students in the Electrical Engineering (Power and Machines) Program is 214 students. The Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (Power and Machines) program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of ABET, https://www.abet.org, under the commission’s General Criteria and Program Criteria for Electrical, Computer, Communications, Telecommunication(s), and Similarly Named Engineering Programs.

Program Goals

1PEO1. Provide the students with a body of knowledge that is at the forefront of computer engineering disciplines and develop their intellectual abilities as graduate degree holders.
2PEO2. Engage students in applying scientific research methodology, reasoning, and analytical skills in computer engineering-related fields for the benefit of society and to serve the industrial needs at national level.
3PEO3. Encourage faculty and students for ethical production of research and improve their contribution to the core and emerging areas of computer engineering that are globally relevant and of great importance to the Saudi society.
4PEO4. Provide support to the students to develop their leadership and communications skills, help them thrive at KAU, and prepare them to achieve success after graduation.

Student Outcome (SOs):
1. The ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics.
2. The ability to apply the engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors.
3. The ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences.
4. The ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts.
5. The ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, creates a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives.
6. The ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions.
7. The ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.
