Institute of Genomic Medicine Celebrates CBAHI Accreditation

Published on 04 September 2026

The Institute of Genomic Medicine at King Abdulaziz University celebrated a significant national achievement after receiving accreditation from the Saudi Central Board for Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions (CBAHI). The occasion was marked at a ceremony held on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at the King Fahd Medical Research Center, with the attendance of Prof. Ameen bin Yousef Noman, Vice President for Scientific Research and Innovation.

The event brought together officials from colleges, research and scientific centers, as well as representatives of supporting and collaborating sectors. During the ceremony, staff members and work teams were honored in recognition of their dedicated efforts and key contributions to meeting all required quality standards and achieving the accreditation.

The new national accreditation further strengthens the Institute’s standing, particularly alongside its existing international accreditation from the College of American Pathologists (CAP). Together, these accreditations reflect the Institute’s commitment to maintaining the highest national and international standards of quality.

CBAHI accreditation represents an important milestone in the Institute’s ongoing commitment to safety and quality in healthcare and research services. It supports the implementation of leading healthcare and operational safety standards across the Institute’s laboratories, helping to enhance the quality and reliability of its services.

The accreditation also strengthens research reliability by ensuring a safe and compliant working environment, thereby improving the quality and accuracy of diagnostic testing and research outcomes. In addition, it supports greater integration across the healthcare system and contributes to the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 by advancing healthcare services and improving diagnostic, preventive, and treatment approaches based on genomic medicine and personalized medicine.

This achievement reflects the Institute’s continued progress as a center of scientific and research excellence, combining national and international accreditations to support community service and contribute to the development of the national healthcare system.
