The Institute of Medical Genomics is one of the newest academic sectors at King Abdulaziz University, established under Administrative Decision No. 2905/Q dated 13/03/1446H, converting the Center of Excellence in Medical Genomics into the Institute of Medical Genomics, following the recommendations of the University Council, the Board of Trustees, and the decision of the Council of Universities Affairs No. (18/17/45). The Institute aims to advance research in medical genomics and its applications, while providing advanced education and training in the field. It focuses on studying the human genome to understand the genetic background of common diseases in Saudi Arabia, leveraging the University’s advanced research infrastructure. The Institute’s developmental programs contribute to enhancing the national research and innovation ecosystem. Equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories and specialized technologies, the Institute collaborates with prominent research centers such as the King Fahd Medical Research Center, the Princess Al-Johara Al-Ibrahim Center for Genetic Disorders Research, and the Center for Innovation in Personalized Medicine. This integration boosts research quality and supports Vision 2030 goals through improved healthcare and the preparation of specialized national talents.
