Architecture and Planning Students Showcase 60 Engineering Projects at Urban Dimensions 2026 Exhibition

The Faculty of Architecture and Planning at King Abdulaziz University, represented by the

Department of Geomatics, organized the “Urban Dimensions 2026” exhibition as an

academic and professional initiative aimed at enhancing students’ readiness and aligning

educational outcomes with labor market requirements. It was organized as part of the

practical work completed by students in the “Professional Practice” course.

With broad participation from students, engineering and consulting firms, and professionals

interested in the urban field, the exhibition showcased more than 60 engineering projects

and diverse student experiences. These works reflected students’ skills in architecture,

planning, design, and modern technologies, while also highlighting concepts of sustainable

urban development in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.

More than 24 engineering and consulting firms also took part in the exhibition to enhance

opportunities for training, qualification, and employment. Their participation helped create

an interactive professional environment that builds bridges between students and the

engineering and urban development sectors, while introducing students to labor market

requirements and the professional skills needed for the future.

The exhibition featured several panel discussions, student workshops, and professional

sessions that addressed the importance of practical training, building a professional identity,

personal branding, and developing technical and professional skills. It also presented

inspiring student experiences on the transition from academic life to the workplace.

Organizing the “Urban Dimensions 2026” exhibition reflects King Abdulaziz University’s

commitment to supporting quality initiatives that contribute to preparing qualified national

talent capable of competing and innovating. This is achieved by strengthening integration

between academic and applied learning and empowering students to build a professional

future that keeps pace with developments in the urban and engineering sectors.
