Abstract : This paper discloses the norms and the ethical values that a researcher must follow in conducting research in any field of knowledge in general and Islamic Economics (IE) in particular. The research process as we know it is not limited to the formation of the problem, design of the research in various chapters and parts, data collection, statistical analysis of the data, and report preparation; but it goes beyond that by embracing certain norms and ethical values from the researcher. By adhering to such norms and ethics the researcher safeguards others from being harmed. Among the norms that are stressed in this study are truthfulness, objectivity and trust. So the paper examines the principles and the ethical bases of scientific research that must be pursued and adhered to by the researcher throughout the various stages of the research process.
