Abstract : This paper extends the application of piecewise linear polynomial functions to the analysis and parameter identification of linear time-invariant continuous delayed systems. The real Schur from decomposition is used to structure the resulting algebraic equations in such a way that it can be solved columnwise by a forward substitution technique. The main advantage of this method is that a simple recursive algorithm is derived. Tedious iterative algorithms and direct matrix inversion for large scale systems are thus avoided in calculating the expansion coefficients. Illustrative examples are given for demonstration.
