Abstract : The class of q C –commuting selfmaps is introduced. For this class, several results regarding common fixed points of I -nonexpansive selfmaps as well as the generalized I -nonexpansive selfmaps of the Ciric type are established. Applications of our results to best approximation theory are derived. The class of q C -commuting selfmaps is also extended to multimaps. Various invariant approximation results for the generalized I -nonexpansive multimaps of the Reich type are obtained. Our results unify, extend, and complement several well-known results.
