Dr Samia Al-Amoudi has given a formal dinner in honour of a visiting delegation from the American Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI).
The purpose of the invitation was to discuss issues pertinent to the establishment of a KAU-based center of excellence in breast cancer to be sponsored by Sheikh Mohamed Hussain Al-Amoudi.
The meeting also dealt with a proposal to launch a breast screening unit to provide free of charge services in Makkah Al-Mukarramah region, in addition to introducing educational programmes to raise the medical staff's awareness of the early breast cancer detection.
The dinner was also attended by Mrs Suaad Al-Jaffali, Mrs Aisha Neto, Mrs Wafaa Al-Ghadi and Dr Saliha Abdin.
Oliva Ricky, of the MEPI, said the proposed center would be a model and a quality shift in breast cancer research.
Dr Al-Amoudi lauded the relentless support of HE Prof Osama S. Tayyeb, KAU President, to the project.
She also showed heartfelt gratitude to Sheikh Mohammed Hussain Al-Amoudi, for sponsoring the project.
Last week, Dr Al-Amoudi paid a visit to Abu Dhabi to take part in the MEPI regional meetings, during which the introduction of an MEPI-sponsored Arab programme for breast cancer was approved.
On a previous occasion, she had also discussed aspects of cooperation between KSA and US in the field of breast cancer with Hillary Clinton, US Secretary of State, during a meeting held at Dar Al-Hekma College in Jeddah.
