Professor Dr. Mohamed Sherif El- Manadely got his B. Sc. Degree, Civil Engineering, in 1981 from the faculty of Engineering, Cairo University. At the end of this year, he assigned as instructor in the Irrigation and Hydraulics Department, Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University. He included in posts as lecturer and Assistant Professor when he got his Ph. D. in 1991. After that, he promoted as Associate Professor. In 2002, he got the title Professor of Hydraulics and in 2012, he became the chairperson of the Irrigation and Hydraulics Department until early 2018. From 1981 to 2018, he taught fluid mechanics, hydraulics, advanced hydraulics, sediment transport, river engineering and water resources courses. He taught in many training courses in Egypt and abroad. He also participated in writing three books in hydraulics for advanced agriculture diploma.
Professor El- Manadely was a member in the committee for promotion of professors and associate professors in the National Water Research Center until 2018. He is also in the editorial board and a referee for scientific papers in many journals and national and international conferences. He is a referee for the committee for promotion of professors and associate professors (water resources) assigned by the Supreme Council of Egyptian Universities. His research interests include river engineering, sediment transport, integrated water resources management, surface water hydrology and open channel hydraulics.
Professor El- Manadely supervised more than twenty-awarded M. Sc. and Ph. D. thesis in addition to participation in Arbitration Committees for many dissertations. He participated in publishing more than thirty scientific papers in journals and international conferences. In addition, he participated in preparing the Egyptian code for surface and sub surface drainage of roads. He was the executive director for the Irrigation and Hydraulics laboratory who got ISO 17025 certificate. Professor El- Manadely was the Principal Investigator for many research projects funded by EU, World Bank, GEF and the Academy for Scientific Research and Technology.
Professor El- Manadely was a member or the Principal Investigator for more than 60 studies and projects mostly in fields of protection against flash floods, design of rainfall drainage networks, water resources management and protection against sand drift in many countries such as Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Syria, Yemen and many others.
