Research Interests

In the past 5 years, at the Civil Eng. Dept. at Ryerson University, I conducted/supervised several research projects in collaboration with industrial partners. The following is a brief list of such activities:

  • Durability and Residual Capacity Assessment of Existing Buried RC Concrete Structures
  • Modeling of Contaminant Flow in Porous Media (soil and concrete)
  • Evolution of Corrosion in Buried Concrete Structures
  • Linear and Nonlinear Stress Analysis of Buried Structures Using GFRP or Steel Reinforcement
  • Thermo-Mechanical Soil-structure Interaction
  • The following is a sample of projects/articles/ theses that I had the opportunity to review, evaluate and report on:
  1. March 2017 “Approaches for developing self-healing materials technology for reinforced concrete applications”
  2. Sept. 2016 “The use of nanosilica to improve concrete strength and durability: Molecular modeling simulations approach”
  3. Aug. 2015 “Mechanical Performance of Sulpho-Based Rapid Hardening Concrete”
  4. June 2015 “Investigation of Driven FRP Reinforced Concrete Piles for Bridges, Tunnels, Marine, Lateral Support Applications”
  5. Feb. 2015 “Mechanical Properties and Durability of Self-Compacting Concrete Containing Supplementary Cementitious Materials”
  6. Jan. 2015 “Rehabilitation of slender columns and concrete filled tubes using FRP system”
  7. Aug. 2014 “The effects of materials and micro-climate variations on predictions of carbonation rate in reinforced concrete in the inland environment”
  8. Feb. 2013 “An Investigation on the Influence of Metakaolin Type and Content on the Chemical Characteristics of Cement Paste”
  9. June 2013 “The Influence of Metakaolin Type and Content on the Transport Properties and Carbonation of Cement Paste”
