Profile
Dr. Mohamed Fouad Radwan is
a Professor of Medicinal Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy - King Abdulaziz
University, Jeddah. He studied his M. Sci. in Egypt in the field of
Medicinal Chemistry. He studied his Ph.D. in Japan about Highly Stereoselective
deuteration of Nucleosides as a novel methodology (Tokyo, Japan). Dr. Mohamed
joins other three staff members in constructing a new college of pharmacy for
Al-Azhar University in Assiut branch including buildings, labs, library,
devises and all courses. He started research projects and supervised two master
degrees. He delivered to Faculty of Pharmacy, El-Minia University and start
establishes the Pharmaceutical Chemistry department (including organic and
medicinal chemistry). Beside his academic work in constructing the department
and college libraries, accreditations project and education development center,
he start the research projects in the department through the synthesis of new
medicinal compounds using different synthetic techniques and testing the
biological activity of these compound through his own research work and through
his supervision for master and doctor degrees. He have a good experience in
ragioselective synthesis of biologically active drugs, drug delivery systems,
nitric oxide donors, synthesis of antioxidants, antibacterial, antineoplastic,
anticonvusants, beside also hypoglycemic and hypolipidemic agents. Dr.
Mohamed have good experience in the structure elucidation of the new compounds
using different instrumental techniques like UV spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy,
NMR spectroscopy (different types) and Ms spectroscopy. He had a good
experience in teaching organic chemistry and medicinal chemistry for both
undergraduate and postgraduate through his work in Al-Azhar University, Minia
University and also during an invitation for teaching MIU University. Besides
that, he had an academic work through working as the head of Pharmaceutical
Chemistry Department and Vice Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy, Minia University,
El-Minia, Egypt. Now
Prof. Mohamed teach medicinal chemistry courses for 3rd and 4th
undergraduate students in both male and females sections. Dr. Mohamed also
continued his research career though design and synthesis of anti-inflammatory compounds
with high selectivity and low side effects, this beside the compounds have
potential anticancer activity. In addition, he is member in many committees as accreditation
and course description committees, beside that he act as course coordinator for
medicinal chemistry responsible for registration of student degrees on odus system.
