Dr. Sherif Shawki Zaki Hindi

Profile

Dr. Sherif Shawky Zaki Hindi is currently an associate professor in the Department of Arid land Agriculture (Renewable Natural Resources Passway) , Faculty of Meteorology, Environment and Arid Land Agriculture, King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He obtained his B. Sc. in 1985, Master Degree in 1994 and Ph.D. in 2001 in Wood Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Alexandria Univ. He has been supervising on the Agricultural Machines and Vehicles Maintenance unit in Agricultural Research Station (ARS) of King Abdulaziz Univ. at Hada Al-Sham until 2008 when he occupy the universal supervisor of the ARS until 2014. Further, he was a member in each of Academic Accreditation, the ARS and the Internet Committees. He represented the Deanship of Graduate Studies to referee  MSc-examinations. He worked in several research projects funded internationally for Alex. Univ. and Ministry of Agric. In Egyp such as  Ford foundation grant no 860-0710

He presented several papers at international conferences in  Malaysia (1995   ),Yemen (2010),Italy (2010 and 2011)and France (2011), USA (2013), Saudi Arabia (2016).

  • Production and evaluation of cellulose nanocrystals (CNC's).
  • Studying birefringence properties of bio-liquid crystals and their applications in LCD and LED displays.
  • Production and evaluation of cellulose nanocrystals (CNC's).
  • Production and evaluation of graphene, carbon black, carbon foam and carbon nanotubes from biomass and edible oils.
  • Production and evaluation of bioplastic membranes from renewable natural resources.
  • Studying essential oils contents in leaves and flowers of trees as well as annuals grown in agroforestry fields.
  • Evaluating fuel characteristics and carbonaceous products of woody plants grown in Western region of the kingdom.
  • Extracting cellulosic fibers from lignocellulosic resources and manufacturing fibrous panels and paper.
  • Determinations of mechanical, physical, chemical and anatomical properties of Saudi woods.
  • Increasing permeability of lignocellulosic materials, activated carbon by each of steam exposure or chemical treatments.
