Brief biography: Ghayda Al-Juwaiser works as an assistant professor at the Faculty of Media and Communication at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah (April 2020 - current). She held the position of the head of the research and social studies department at Iktifa Association (2009), and taught as a teacher assistant - on a short term contract - a number of sociology modules at the Department of Sociology and Social Service at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah (2008-2009), she then got a permanent job as a teaching assistant at the Communication Skills Unit/Department at King Abdulaziz University In Jeddah (2010-2013). She holds a PhD in Digital Media from Sheffield Hallam University in the UK (October 2019), she obtained a BA (2006) and a Masters (2010) in Sociology and Social Work from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah. She has published a number of academic papers in Arabic and English. Her main research interests focus on: women, identity, online practices in general and specifically social media ones, discourse analysis, qualitative methods, interdisciplinary studies, techniques and education quality in higher education and training. She has presented/participated at/in a number of academic events in and outside Saudi Arabia, such as Britain, France and the United Arab Emirates.
