Special education teacher School service. My first involvement with male and female students with special needs was as a volunteer teacher’s assistant at the Al Basma Center for the Care of Children with Special Needs. She worked with different categories of children with special needs such as Down Syndrome, deaf children and autism. The teacher assisted in the classroom by preparing and implementing lessons, classroom activities, and tools. But my first involvement with deaf female students was in one of the primary schools integrating the deaf and hard of hearing. Through working closely with them, it became clear to me their low level of learning Arabic reading and writing. My role in this school was to teach female students reading, writing, and some religious subjects such as monotheism and jurisprudence. I was responsible for taking care of the students' hearing aids. Due to the lack of a permanent presence of a speech-language pathologist, I also taught speech, hearing, and speech under the supervision of a visiting speech-language pathologist. I also created a training hall for speech and hearing classes under the supervision of the Special Education Department (Western Region). During my time in elementary school, I developed six Speech and Hearing curricula (first, second, and third grade, two curricula for each stage (first and second semester)). Also, it published an awareness magazine (The World of the Deaf) for teachers and families of deaf students. During these four years of experience, I sought to develop my personal and teaching skills and learn about what is new in the world of the deaf. My work in special and inclusive elementary schools for deaf and hard of hearing female students strengthened my interest in the field of educating deaf children. This encouraged me to join the academic field.
2002 - 2003 Student counsellor I worked as a student counselor in a private school (primary, middle, and secondary) and worked to help female students find solutions to their behavioral and psychological problems. I supported the school teachers about the psychological needs of the students. I conducted some awareness and guidance lectures for teachers, students and their mothers. Some individual and group counseling programs were designed for female students. During that period, I sought to develop my professional skills by attending training courses in the field of psychology and behaviour.
