My first degree (Bsc) had been awarded in 2000 by Department of Meteorology, Faculty of Meteorology, Environment and Arid Land Agriculture, King Abdulaziz University (KAU), Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. I worked for the department as Teaching assistant till 2004. Then, I received a scholarship from King Abdulaziz University to study in the United Kingdom at the Department of Meteorology, University of Reading to pursue higher degrees in Meteorology (Msc and PhD). I had been awarded my PhD degree in December 2011. The major subject of my studies is the weather satellites that serve climatic and weather studies. My ambition is to increase my scientific knowledge and to develop academic products that will contribute to the unprecedented advancement of science revolution in Saudi Arabia.

Research Interests
$0The research interests of Dr. Assiri focus on the applications of Meteorological satellites over the Arabian Peninsula. Accordingly, he is now working on the use of Meteosat second generation (MSG) observations to estimate rainfall amount over the Arabia. Different advanced methods and techniques are used, such as geostatistics, tropical and subtropical climate and weather as well as cloud physics.$0
