Profile
Based on the very qualified teaching at my school of Dar AlHanan, I give my gratitude to my great teacher Mrs. Falak AlAwa who was a teacher of Arabic literature. Her honesty and uniqueness in teaching strategies affected my learning and understanding of the Arabic language and literature, which later became my linguistic method of writing in my literature. Dar AlHanan school’s philosophy of education cultivated my thinking and that made me very interested in academic research. During high school I enjoyed every step of a research book, written by the great teacher Mrs Asmaa AlHemsi who was working in Dar AlHanan. So, literature and research were some basis of my journey, from school to university. I started my study in the university in early childhood education. It seemed for me in the beginning that childhood is a very beautiful simple world. However, later I understood that it is a world which is a full of secrets and ambiguity that needs to be explored. This shows the great of Allah Almighty who created the child’s mind and soul; and made me eager to meet Allah the creator of this beauty.
Then, this field became my interested area of learning in the postgraduate programme. I started with researching the effect of technology on young children’s concepts such as maths, science, literature and art. This was my Master degree. I then moved to study in the UK, in more depth the cognitive and scientific thinking of young children, and specifically in their understanding of the concept of death. This was the focus of my PhD thesis. I returned back to the department of childhood studies in Jeddah/ Faculty of Human sciences and designs, with deep knowledge in the field. I worked and I am working with great students who are ambitious, diligent, and very keen to learn. We wish all the best for our country.
My interested academic area is the cognitive and scientific fields of early childhood thinking. These fields supported me in understanding young children’s philosophy. In my department, I teach the following modules (for BA): Teaching and learning, scientific concepts in preschool children, contemporary studies and research proposals. I also teach the following modules (for MA): Research methods, Social and cultural perspective, reading in early childhood, and reading in English.
Finally, I am happy for communicating and contacting people who would like to discuss any of these areas. My contact information is available online.
