Profile
Prof. Dr. Mohamed A. M. Shaheen obtained a BSc degree in Horticulture from Cairo Univ. in 1395 H (1975) and MSc in 1398 H (1978), PhD in 1401 H (1981) in the field of genetics and breeding of fruits from Kansas Univ.(USA). He occubied several academic and administrative positions in each of King Saud and Abdulaziz Univ. such as head of Plant Production, head of the Editorial Committee of the Journal of Met.Env.&Arid land Agric., a member of the councils of each of Faculty of Meteorology, Abdulaziz Univ., the Saudi Society of Life Sciences. He was also a vice-dean of the faculty for graduates and research. He participated in many funded researches in- and outside the univ. Further, he published over 85 papers in his scientific field

Research Interests
Current research interests are centered on studing the effect of drought and heat stresses - which are the prevailent under environmental conditions within the Western region of Saudi Arabia - on production and quality fruit crops in the Region; evaluating production and quality of fruit cultivars, using tissue culture techniques in fruit tree reproduction, as well as assessing fruit production and quality of date palm, introduce and evaluate medicine plants to Western region of Saudi Arabia.
